GreenSchoolsConnect

GreenSchoolsConnect is a new, national collaborative that leverages existing expertise in communities to create a network of in-person and online connections and resources to systematically advance sustainability in school districts.

GreenSchoolsConnect uses Earth Force’s collaborative community-based partnership model to:

  • convene, connect, and foster “uncommon collaboratives” among schools and school districts, higher education, private, non-profit, government, and other community-based organizations to collectively accelerate the implementation of sustainable practices in schools.
  • educate, engage, and excite young people about science, math, engineering, technology, and sustainability by actively including them in the process of creating and measuring the impacts of more efficient and healthier schools.

Guiding Principles:

  • A shared vision and a common agenda foster a systems-thinking approach among all stakeholders.
  • Strong partnerships and mutually reinforcing activities among diverse communities and stakeholders result in greater impact.
  • Continuous collaboration and intentional communication are necessary to effect systemic change.
  • A shared measurement system is critical to achieving collective impact.

GreenSchoolsConnect programs include:

  • Sustainability Boot Camps - School district teams convene with sustainability leaders from private, public, higher education and non-profit sectors to foster a systemic approach to embedding green and sustainable practices in everything schools do.  Boot Camp participants define an ongoing support structure to facilitate cross-functional green and sustainable practices in schools districts.
  • Corporate Connections – Corporations connect with school districts to develop mutually beneficial, ongoing, skills-based Employee Engagement opportunities that leverage corporate expertise to help schools embed green and sustainable practices in everything they do.
  • Green Schools Dashboard –Schools and school districts have a place to track their progress and measure individual and collective impact around a common set of sustainability metrics.
