James Island students share a year’s worth of activities for the environmentMay 24, 2012 - This past Tuesday, May 15, students from schools across James Island gathered together at James Island County Park to celebrate a year’s worth of environmental efforts and to share their successes with each other during the Charleston Area Environmental Youth Summit. Throughout the past year, several James Island schools have taken a proactive approach in helping to enhance and beautify their local neighborhoods while also learning about the environment and sharing that knowledge with their neighbors. “The youth in James Island want to be involved in making their community a better place. Once you give them the power to choose an issue that means something to them, it is incredible the change they can affect.
