Sixth Graders at the Odyssey School Unveiling Action PlanJanuary 24, 2013 - A group of sixth graders at The Odyssey School in Denver, CO, have been studying how Englewood Sewage treatment plant is affecting the South Platte River. They learned how to look for specific data when testing for the quality of the water, like macroinvertebrates (aquatic bugs that are indicators of the water quality), and seven water quality indicators (E.coli, Phosphates, Temperature, Nitrates, pH, Dissolved Oxygen, and Turbidity). The students put their knowledge to use and discovered the water decreased in quality after it went by the outfalls of Englewood Sewage Treatment plant. Now, they are determined to take action! Join them for a presentation on January 31, at 6:30 p.m. at 1536 Wynkoop Street, Suite 100 to learn more about their plan. They are looking for the support of the community to help them take action. Please reach out to Jon at jon@odysseydenver.org if you're interesting in attending. |
