GM GREEN: Wood View Elementary visits the Hidden Oaks Nature Center

November 2, 2010 - On October 28th and 29th, over 80 4th graders from Wood View Elementary visited the Hidden Oaks Nature Center to participate in GREEN water monitoring with Yusuf Parker, Mark Ernst, Ed Driver from the Bolingbrook CCA-02 Plant.

They assisted with three different learning stations: "Defining Wetlands", "Macroinvertebrate Study", and "Chemical Water Testing". Students rotated from station to station to learn about the three topics and recorded data on the health of the Hidden Lakes area within the greater DuPage River watershed.

Mentors and students enjoyed the beautiful fall weather and discovered snapping turtles, beaver habitat and water quality indicators in this scenic refuge.
