Why We Are Here: Earth Force has a long history in Denver, Colorado. Earth Force, formerly FrontRange Earth Force, formed in Denver in 1997 because of strong community connections and partnerships around environmental issues and education. What We Are Doing: Working to network with and/or establish CBIs with groups in 4 quadrants of metro Denver and a watershed (Southeast Denver, Southwest Denver, Northeast, Northwest Denver and Westerly Creek/Sand Creek Watershed) Keep it Clean program – relationship with the City and County of Denver were Earth Force helps city meet education and outreach requirements for local storm water permit around water quality education/outreach through service learning projects in Denver area Youth Engagement Zone – CBI model/pilot focusing on network of partners working with youth in Northeast Denver to increase youth/community engagement and academic achievement in NE Denver. Together Green Program – Partnership with Audubon Colorado around reducing Denver schools carbon footprint through service learning projects around energy usage, conservation, exploration and audits of schools Health – Working to create health related learning circles, network of community partners and a toolkit for health related high quality service learning projects SOS-Providing local youth a rite of passage opportunity to gain important leadership and environmental awareness during the summer months. Every participant receives a $500 Education Award for completion of their 100 hours of service-learning.
Earth Force History in this Community: Earth Force began in Denver in 1997 as FrontRange Earth Force. Youth led environmental service learning projects were mainly focused in Northwest Denver at that time and have spread throughout the Denver metro area, creating numerous community partnerships and school district connections.
