The River Wards

Description: This community-based initiative is comprised of the Kensington, Fishtown, Port Richmond, Norris Square, Northern Liberties and Fairhill/St. Hugh neighborhoods of Philadelphia.

Why We Are Here: Our partnership with the New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC) first brought us to the Kensington neighborhood in the River Wards. A former manufacturing and shipping district, challenges are being turned into opportunities.

Demographics: Approx. 91% free/reduced lunch

What We Are Doing: We are partnering with several Philadelphia public schools and community-based organizations delivering after-school programs, while working to build a coalition with the diverse, multicultural population.

Earth Force History in this Community: We were invited into the Kensington neighborhood in the River Wards area of Philadelphia almost 3 years ago.
