Over 70 students gathered for the effort which consisted of building fenced-in plots for the marsh grasses, planting bulrush and cordgrass, and cleaning trash from the shoreline.
Over 400 marsh grasses were planted along the tide-influenced shoreline and a full truckload of trash was collected.
Following all the hard work, students gathered at the local grill for cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and for some rest!
The restoration event was sponsored by the Galveston Bay Foundation and coordinated by Ingrid Norris and Brent Stafford. Plants were provided by TexasGenco, and assistance provided by Eddie Seidensticker (USDA), Breck Sacra (TexasGenco), and Russel Smith (YouthLaunch).
Thanks to all the students, teachers, and other volunteers for making the day such a success!
