Composting at Ridgefield!

Composting at Ridgefield!

Date: 20 Jun 2007

School: Ridgefield Elementary

Did you know that organic materials or things that can be composted (yard clippings and fruit and vegetable wastes) make up 330 pounds of trash per person per year?

All fifth-graders researched and then taught other students the what, why and how about composting.

They created a cheer for everyone to learn, a skit for morning announcements, a PowerPoint, an activity guide and wrote a story for younger students about composting.

Our group is working to reduce the amount of waste produced at lunchtime through a school-wide composting program in our cafeteria.
