Frost Elementary is a relatively new school in the central part of Hillsborough County near Progress Village. Students have been on a couple of campus walks and have found several types of invasive species. Lonnie Jones from Hillsborough County Parks helped students understand the danger of exotics while locating Brazilian peppers growing along the eastern side of the campus. Tropical soda apple, water hyacinth and apple snails have been found in the large stormwater retention ponds in front of the school.
Students will begin testing the water in these ponds to learn more about the quality of water.
