Admiral Farragut Academy Earth Force Club- Mrs. Sari Deitche

15 Feb 2008- The Earth Force Club at Admiral Farragut Academy in St. Petersburg are examining a storm water canal that flows through campus directly into the bay. Through water testing with assistance from a local company, they found the water quality below standard and containing certain heavy metals. They were also concerned with the steep, concrete armoring of the canal and the lack of natural vegetation that could help filter the water.
The next steps for the group, are to investigate the policies and stakeholders involved with the canal and to investigate what they can do to improve the canals conditions.
