15 Feb 2008- The 5th grade students in Ms. Der and Ms. Lumpkins classes at J.S. Robinson Elementary have begun working with kindergarteners to improve their reading and comprehension skills as well as their environmental knowledge. To accomplish their lessons, the students will use a variety of tools to make the learning fun and effective. Ranging from PowerPoint lessons and a Smartboard, to books and puppets, to guest speakers and water testing activities, Ms. Lumpkins and Ms. Der’s students will engage their younger schoolmates with these instruments to make them better environmental stewards as well as better academic students.
The fifth graders are then planning to work with the kindergarteners to prepare a coloring book to share their combined learning with the community.
