. • Canterbury School of Florida’s 6th grade science students are researching water use by Native Americans at Weedon Island Preserve. The Preserve’s peninsula supported a village in the 1500’s but had no natural sources of fresh water. Perhaps our ancestors have water conservation advice for us!
. • St. John’s Episcopal Day School 6th grade science students championed storm water education. They reached the community through labeled drains, informational door tags, and an article in the local paper, they tutored younger students with puppet shows, and made school-wide morning announcements to teach everyone about storm water fundamentals.
. From 12 noon to 12:25 pm it will be celebration, celebration, celebration as all student’s present their environmental cheers, poems, songs, and colorful banners on one of our three stages. Linda Saul-Sena, Tampa City Councilperson, closes the event at 12:30 pm by thanking the students for their efforts to improve their community.
. Earth Force is a nonprofit organization that provides students with all the tools they need to identify community problems, locate resources, and take action to make a difference now and in the future. This year, Suncoast Earth Force will provide training, support, and materials to more than 1000 students in Tampa Bay area schools.
