Carol Cummings three 9th grade AVID classes are conducting a water audit of their school. They understand the impact of a three year drought on the City of Tampa’s water supply. They have already worked with the City of Tampa Water Department to get a professional irrigation water audit, the results will be presented to the students soon. Students are working with the City of Tampa on the internal water audit. They will record water leaks, list the type of faucets, and record water usage by interviewing students and staff at the school. All data will be submitted to an expert water auditor at South West Florida Water Management District who will review the data and make recommendations of water saving devices which will have a less than 3 year payback period. Students will then present this data to the school board. They are also reading water and wildlife stories to Broward Elementary Students
