Earth Force Celebrates National Volunteer Week in Charleston

Date: 21 Apr 2009

Location: Charleston

In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr. signed a Proclamation declaring April 19-25 to be National Volunteer Week in Charleston.  Volunteer organizations were invited to the Proclamation Signing Ceremony at City Hall and hear Mayor Riley speak about the importance of volunteerism and service to our community.  Lowcountry Earth Force representatives, including Executive Director Anna Richardson, Program Coordinator Eric Anderson, along with Board Chair Suzanne Webster and Board Member Kat Ravenel had the fortunate opportunity to attend the ceremony and even got their picture taken with the Mayor!

National Volunteer Week (NVW) is held annually to acknowledge the contributions made by individuals and organizations. Established in 1974 by former President Richard Nixon, NVW has grown exponentially in scope each year, drawing the support and endorsement of all subsequent U.S. presidents, governors, mayors and other respected elected officials, as well as corporate and community groups across the country.

Earth Force would like to thank all of our volunteers who have given their time to help make our programs and events so successful this year and we could not do the work we do for Lowcountry youth without their help!
