After completing your water testing, be sure to clean out your test tubes. Your tubes will mold if you leave the tested water in them or if you do not allow them to completely dry out before capping them.
You can:
1) Rinse them out well and then allow them to air dry or dry them with a paper towel or
2) If you already have mold colonies growing, rinse them out in bleach water, rinse well with water and then dry.
Throw away the E. Coli tests after use! Do not attempt to open them or re-use the glass containers.
The folded, brown packaging material that comes in your kits makes for a nice dry erase board eraser, too!
If the test result/direction cards that came with your test kits got wet, they begin to peel apart. Laminate them so they will last longer!
