U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Earth Force has received the generous support of the EPA through grants such as the Student Environmental Development Program, Environmental Education grants, and JUSTAIR. Over the years support from the U.S. EPA has helped Earth Force develop and replicate program innovations. From supporting the development of a community embedded approach to supporting the integration of the Earth Force model into pre-service education programs. With this collaboration, our programs have become even more innovative and the impact of youth voice and effective partnerships has been broadened.

Currently the U.S. EPA is supporting the development of "bridges" between pre-service education programs and school districts. In partnership with three communities: Portland, ME (KIDS Consortium, University of Southern Maine and the Portland Public Schools); Scranton, PA (University of Scranton, and the Scranton School District); and, Tampa, FL (University of South Florida, and the Hillsborough County Schools) Earth Force is developing a model to mentor pre-service educators as they move being students to being teachers. Through this program we will design models that help novice educators incorporate higher order learning strategies into their classrooms, increasing access to educational strategies that build 21st Century skills.
