Our Mission Statement: "Earth Force engages young people as active citizens who improve the environment and their communities now and in the future."

Envisioning Our Future

Teacher Jerry Durall in Louisville, KY, uses the Earth Force Process in his class. Here students are planting native plant seeds in anticipation of doing some wetland restoration work between Lassiter Middle School and the new WalMart next door.

If we allow ourselves to dream about what we would like our communities to be, we see students, teachers, parents, administrators and community members who realize that engagement in community problem-solving is an essential component of the education of young people.

In this community, school districts and institutions of higher education work together to ensure that educators are prepared to facilitate authentic youth-led projects. Young people from all achievement levels and walks of life have the opportunity to lead local efforts to effect change. In this community, a national call to service goes beyond asking young people to volunteer -- we expect them to be co-engineers in addressing the challenges we face. The end result is that these communities are healthier because of the involvement of youth.

Earth Force is a leader in networking community partners, and training local groups, and providing curriculum resources to run service-learning and civic action programs in their community.
